The organisation also has a separate recruitment division that provides temporary staff to other social care organisations such as nursing and care homes. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What type of services does Athena Care provide? Our local and national live in care and block hour service's support independence and choice for adults and children who may require personal care, daily living, shopping, social care, and domestic assistance in minimum blocks of 4 hours service through to providing full time employed live in services.
Our services are open to adults & children who may experience physical disabilities, acquired brain injury, spinal injury,complex neurological conditions, mental health difficulties, dementia, learning difficulties, palliative care, intermediate (short term intensive) care requirements and sensory/ dual sensory impairment. Live in care and holiday support services may be provided by either an Athena employed social/health care worker or the ‘Introduction’ of a self-employed social/health care worker enabling a best value approach for the service user so you may continue to live in your own home or travel, secure in the knowledge that assistance is available at anytime. How much will the service cost?
This is dependent on the agreed outcomes of the service. Our self-employed Live In 'Introduction' normally service begins at £436.38 per week for companionship duties this would include the agreed social/health care worker salary (paid directly by you to the social care/support worker), our administration fees and VAT. Our hourly charge begins at £12.99 per hour for the provision of a trained and skilled social care worker. What part of UK do the services cover? The organisation provides services Nationally across the whole of the UK ,Europe & Worldwide. What happens if things go wrong?
Athena Care acknowledges that occasionally things may not go as planned. We encourage feedback from our service user's regarding any issues. Service users are provided with the organisations comprehensive ‘Complaints Guide’ on commencement of the service and are encouraged to speak to any member of staff regarding issues or concerns. Following the successful introduction for self-employed live in care services the social/health care worker becomes an employee of the service user and not the organisation the service user would be responsible for the guidance, supervision and control of their own care and support staff . What kind of selection/training procedures do you have? Our rigorous selection procedures are well known & documented within the organisations 'Quality Manual' and other literature. As a minimum, face-to-face interviews take place, obtaining and checking two written references, provision of an Enhanced Disclosure (CRB) checked against the PoVA and PoCA lists, further checks take place to ensure the candidate complies with all relevant employment regulations such as the Asylum and Immigration Act and Working Time Directive and if working as self- employed confirmation of correct status. Training & development certificates are also held on file. The organisation follows an extensive and comprehensive 'Skills For Care' induction training and development programme for all employees, which also encompasses the organisations beliefs such as service user respect, choice, dignity, privacy and the promotion of independence.Over 50% of care and support workers are now NVQ Level 2/3 Health & Social Care qualified. What sort of policy do you operate towards drinking & smoking? The employed social/health care workers follow the organisation’s policies/procedures/standards and are not allowed to smoke or drink in the service users home. The organisation has developed further policies and procedures for the protection of the service user which can be requested at any time. Whilst the organisation promotes best outcomes and encourages best practice and compliance with polices and procedures at all times to its workforce, as a self-employed social/health care worker it is the service user and not the organisation who the worker must look to for direction control and supervision. Are social/health care workers friends or family allowed to visit during the service? The social/health care worker should not be encouraged to have family or friends to visit them at a service user home without permission from the service user and their family. The relationship between service user and social/health care worker is intimate one and should to be built on trust and honesty.
For self-employed Live In introduction services the social/health care worker remains under the direction control and supervision of the service user at all times.The service user is responsible for payment of wages to the self- employed social/health care worker and agreed administration fees to the organisation.
