Athena Care: CQC registered and inspected care and support at home, providing highly trained social/health care workers across the whole of the UK. Employed/self-employed social/health care workers may also provide 24hr Live In Care or Holiday Assistance within the whole of the UK, Europe and Worldwide. Why work for Athena Care? Live In care is a 24-hour service provided to a service user usually a minimum of a week at a time. What does Live In Care entail? For Live In services the social/health care worker would generally support and promote the independence of the service user. The tasks expected will be as individual as the service users themselves, this may include assisting the service user with personal care, washing, dressing,medication administration and domestic work such as meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, washing, ironing etc. This may also include supporting the service user on holiday and attending routine medical appointments. Can anyone be a social care worker? On initial application the social care worker must be over the age of 18 and confirm they may legally work in the UK. The organisation enforces rigorous selection procedures for all positions of care work whether block hour or live in, the organisation will ensure as a minimum that the applicant undergoes & receives / complies with:
Do you need and skills or qualifications? To register as a social care worker employee no formal qualifications are required. However the position of a social care worker is a responsible one and often very demanding. An honest caring nature is essential. The organisation also promotes the continuing professional development of all employed social care workers who following the Skills for Care induction period will be offered and encouraged to attain a N.V.Q. Level 2/3 Health & Social Care qualification. It is also desirable that you can drive. Health care workers would be expected to ensure all continuing professional development training is attended in line with the individuals regulatory body. For registration under our self-employed social/health care services you would be required to have previously gained the necessary skills and experience in a social/health care setting to appropriately support the service user before we can offer suitable placements.Addtional Training including First Aid, Food Safety, Manual Handling, Medication & N.V.Q. is offered and encouraged to all self-employed workers. How much do you get paid? Rates of pay will differ depending on the type of service provided and requirements of the service user travelling costs are also paid on agreement. Examples are: £7.40 hr social care worker (enhancements for weekend and bank holidays). £500-600 average per week for employed Live In care services 0.25p travel as agreed. How do I attend an interview? Interviews would normally be based in areas local to you, though you may have to travel to our Leicester Head Office for which expenses will be paid. Is there a minimum period of work? Block hour social/ health care workers are normally offered as minimum 4 hours shifts per day; this may include late evening and weekends for which enhancements are paid. National Live In social/health care workers would normally work 1 week on and 1 week off though this may vary. Where would I be based? Employed social care/support workers would be based as close to home as possible, to enable to them to return home when not at work. By nature the National & European Live In service means that the service user may or may not live near to your home and some travel would be expected. What help & support do you offer social/health care workers? We aim to support our social/health care workers through continuing professional development, supervision and our 24 hr on call service responding to any problems or queries you may have. |
